In brief the history of Imatech B.V.

Imatech was founded in August 1973 by Mr. and Mrs. Haverkamp.

The motivation behind this was, that back then there were no specialists for delivery of electrical equipment to sea-going vessels.

This specialty became the main activity of our company.

The name Imatech is abbreviated from "International Marine Technics".

In the early days Mr. Haverkamp attended the vessels which were calling the ports of Rotterdam, Amsterdam and Antwerp, trying to get direct orders from the ships and of course the return delivery on board.

Then the orders still came directly from the crew on board, but later this changed through contacts with ship managements or ship owners, which sent the orders by telex and mail and by telephone.

The home address of Mr. and Mrs. Haverkamp was the office and warehouse at the same time, but soon a garage was used as storage.

After some years the business had expanded so much that personnel needed to be employed.

In the mean time the company moved to Hellevoetsluis where again a garage was used but this time it was set up as office.

The staff kept growing and in 1980 a small office was rented. Business took on and in 1983 the premises at the Daltonweg was acquired.

Today, the staff has grown to 20 and we are still expanding. In such way that on February 2008 we again moved to a new building at Hellevoetsluis, roughly 4 times larger than the old one.

Imatech is a family business and two sons of Mr. Haverkamp and several others to the family related also are employed. The founder, Mr. Chris Haverkamp past away on the 10th April 2009.

The eldest son, Mr. Erling Haverkamp, performing as Managing Director, has taken over the company in 2001.
